If you've got an MBA in Finance, a background in banking operations, or a CA qualification sitting in your drawer and you've been eyeing a stable, well-paying role in a premier financial institution, this one's worth pausing on. The Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) has released its Recruitment 2026 notification, and it's calling for applications against 8 vacancies for Deputy Manager and Manager posts.
This isn't a routine hiring cycle either — it's a Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) specifically meant to fill backlog vacancies reserved for SC, ST and OBC candidates, issued under Advertisement No. HRM/DM & M/SRD/2026-27/04.
So What Exactly Is This Recruitment About?
Exim Bank is India's premier all-India financial institution dedicated to financing, facilitating and promoting the country's international trade.
Through this drive, it's looking to bring in banking professionals for two roles: Deputy Manager (Grade/Scale JM I) in Banking Operations, and Manager (Grade/Scale MM II) in Internal Audit. Only Indian citizens can apply, and the process is entirely online — from 15 September to 10 October 2026.
Where Would You Actually Be Working?
The 8 posts split out like this:
Deputy Manager (JM I) – Banking Operations — 6 posts. The bigger chunk. Broken down as 2 for SC, 1 for ST and 3 for OBC.
Manager (MM II) – Internal Audit — 2 posts. Both reserved for ST candidates.
Since this is a backlog drive, only candidates from SC, ST and OBC (non-creamy layer) categories are eligible to apply — there's no general/unreserved category vacancy in this particular round. PwBD candidates get horizontal reservation for Hearing Impairment (HI) disability.
Who's Actually Eligible?
Eligibility for both posts, computed as on 31 August 2026, is broadly the same on the education front:
You'll need a graduation degree (minimum 3-year full-time course) with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, plus a postgraduate qualification — MBA, PGDBA, PGDBM or MMS — with specialisation in Finance, International Business or Foreign Trade, again at 50% aggregate. A Chartered Accountant with ICAI membership works just as well in place of the PG degree.
Where the two posts differ is on experience:
For Manager (Internal Audit), you'll need at least 3 years of experience in a scheduled commercial bank or all-India financial institution, specifically in internal or credit audit — think report preparation, audit compliance, and liaising with RBI on audit matters.
For Deputy Manager (Banking Operations), the bar is 1 year of post-qualification experience in a bank or financial institution, with exposure to project finance, credit appraisal, term lending and cross-border risk analysis.
One thing to flag: degrees earned through correspondence, part-time, distance or open-learning modes are not accepted here, so it's worth checking your own certificate carefully before applying.
Age Limit
As on 31 August 2026, and already inclusive of category relaxation:
Deputy Manager — up to 33 years for SC/ST, 31 years for OBC (NCL). Manager — up to 35 years for SC/ST, 33 years for OBC (NCL).
PwBD candidates get a further 10 years of relaxation, and Ex-servicemen get an additional 5 years.
What's the Pay Like?
This is where Exim Bank stands out. Under the IBA 12th Bipartite Settlement pay scale:
Deputy Manager (JM-I) starts at ₹48,480, rising through the scale to ₹85,920 — with a starting CTC of roughly ₹18 lakh a year. Manager (MM-II) starts at ₹64,820, going up to ₹93,960 — roughly ₹20 lakh a year to start.
On top of that, selected candidates get allowances, perks, residential or leased accommodation (subject to availability), and loan schemes for housing, vehicles and children's education — the usual, generous banking-sector package.
What Will It Cost You to Apply?
OBC candidates pay ₹600. SC, ST, PwBD and female candidates pay just ₹100 as intimation charges. Whatever you pay, it's non-refundable, so it's worth being sure of your eligibility before you submit.
How the Selection Process Works
It's a two-stage process: a Written Test followed by a Personal Interview.
The written test is a Professional Knowledge – Subjective paper worth 100 marks, run over 2 hours 30 minutes. Part I has one compulsory question worth 40 marks; Part II asks you to attempt any 6 out of 8 questions worth 60 marks. There's no sectional cut-off — your overall score decides whether you move to interview.
Final selection comes down to combined performance: 70% weightage to the written test, 30% to the interview. Candidates from reserved categories can also opt for pre-recruitment training through the application form itself.
The written exam is tentatively scheduled for November 2026, with centres in Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and Guwahati. Interviews will be held in Mumbai and New Delhi.

A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Apply
Selected Deputy Managers must execute a personal bond of ₹3 lakh, committing to serve the Bank for a minimum of 5 years. Candidates flagged as loan defaulters or listed in the CIBIL defaulter database aren't eligible to join. You'll also need to be willing to serve anywhere in India — and possibly abroad, with your consent.
Is It Worth Applying?
For candidates with the right finance or banking background, this is a genuinely strong opportunity — a starting CTC upward of ₹18–20 lakh, a respected AI-rated financial institution, and real exposure to India's international trade financing ecosystem. Since this drive covers backlog vacancies with only 8 posts up for grabs, competition will likely be tight, so it's worth applying early and getting your documents in order well before the window closes.
