Looking for a government-linked job that pays well and doesn’t make you sit through a written exam? Then you’ll want to read this. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) in Chennai is hiring consultants for its Southern Region, and the openings span everything from law and horticulture to design and engineering. The best part is that the last date has been extended, so if you thought you’d missed your chance, you haven’t. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is hiring for 18 vacancies in its Southern Region, Chennai, across Senior Consultant, Consultant, Junior Consultant and Associate Consultant posts. These are contract roles paying Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 1,50,000 per month. You can apply online until the extended last date of 10 November 2026, and selection is through document verification and an interview. AAI issued a corrigendum on 27 October 2026 that changed a few things. Here’s the short version: Applications opened on 7 October 2026. The last date moved from 27 October to 10 November 2026. The “Experience” heading in the vacancy table now reads “Experience required." Everything else in the original notice stays as it was. One small catch: the original ad uses 27 October as the cutoff for counting your age, qualifications and experience, and the corrigendum doesn’t clearly change that. If you’re right on the edge of a limit, double-check the official documents. The 18 seats are spread across 13 different roles, so there’s room for all kinds of professionals. Law has the biggest slice, with three seats for Senior Consultant. You need to be an Indian national with a degree and experience that match your chosen post. Associate roles ask for 0-3 years, Junior roles 3-5 years, and Consultant roles 5-8 years, while the Senior Consultant (Law) post needs 8-10 years and eligibility to enrol as an Advocate. The qualification depends on the field, whether that’s engineering, science, psychology, law or media and design. Some posts also list extra desirable qualifications, so read the full notification before you apply. The higher the post, the more room you get: Associate Consultant: up to 30 years Junior Consultant: up to 35 years Consultant: up to 40 years Senior Consultant (Law): up to 45 years The pay is a fixed monthly amount that depends on the post: Rs. 1,50,000 for Senior Consultant (Law), Rs. 1,20,000 for Consultants, Rs. 1,00,000 for Junior Consultants and Rs. 70,000 for Associate Consultants. Perks like Dearness Allowance, accommodation and medical reimbursement aren’t included, though travel allowances may apply. The first engagement is for one year. It can be extended year by year, up to five years in total. The job is full-time, so no side assignments during the contract. You’ll work as an independent consultant, not a regular AAI employee. Good news: there’s no written test. It goes like this: Document verification: your certificates and experience letters are checked. Interview: you’re assessed for the post you applied to. Merit ranking: you’ll need at least 50 marks in the interview. The dates for verification and interviews will be announced later, so keep an eye on your email. Keep your passport photo (100-200 KB), signature (80-150 KB) and all certificates (100 KB-1 MB, JPEG/JPG/PDF) ready, since wrong file sizes are a common reason people get stuck at upload. Then open the Careers section on AAI’s official website, find Advertisement No. 01/HR/2026/RHQ-SR, register online, upload your documents, and submit before 10 November 2026. So, What’s Going On?
