Working at ISRO sounds like something only engineers and scientists get to do, but this notification proves otherwise. The U R Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru has released Advertisement No. URSC:04:2026 for 61 vacancies. There are 46 posts for Technician-B, 10 for Heavy Vehicle Driver-A, 3 for Light Vehicle Driver-A and 2 for Staff Car Driver-A. If you have an ITI certificate or years of driving experience behind you, this one deserves your attention. Applications opened on 24 October 2026 at 5:00 PM and close on 13 November 2026. The fee has to be paid by the same date, and your qualifications and experience are counted as on 13 November 2026. The exam dates haven’t been announced yet, so keep checking your email and the ISRO website. Technician-B has the biggest share, and electronics candidates have the best chances. Here’s the full breakdown: Allowances come on top of the basic pay. Some of these vacancies are also set aside for PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates, and they’re counted within the total, not added to it. For Technician-B, passing the 10th isn’t enough by itself. You need a 10th pass along with an NCVT ITI, NTC or NAC certificate in the trade you’re applying for. The driver posts ask for a 10th pass, a valid licence and real driving experience. Light vehicle and staff car drivers need at least three years on light vehicles, and heavy vehicle drivers need five years, including at least three on heavy vehicles. Remember that experience counts only after you got your valid licence, and part-time experience or certificates from individuals won’t be accepted. The age limit is 18 to 35 years as on 13 November 2026. SC and ST candidates get 5 years of relaxation and OBC candidates get 3 years, but only when applying for posts reserved for them. Everyone pays Rs 500 while applying, and a good part comes back if you actually sit the written test. General, OBC and EWS candidates get Rs 400 back, while women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates get the full Rs 500 back. You can pay online through the Bharatkosh gateway using net banking, a card or UPI. Selection includes application screening, a written test, a qualifying skill test and document verification. Technician-B candidates get 80 questions in 90 minutes, and unreserved candidates need 32 marks, then 50 in the skill test. Drivers get 100 questions in 120 minutes, with half from the Motor Vehicles Act, and need 60 out of 100 in the driving test. So drivers should study the rules as seriously as they practise driving.
