When to Apply
The notice appeared in Employment News for the 3–9 October 2026 edition. Applications open on 3 October 2026 at 00:01 AM and close on 1 November 2026 at 11:59 PM, giving you about four weeks to sort out your certificates and fill the form. How Many Posts, and Where
There are 126 seats in all, 72 for men and 54 for women, spread across 28 sports disciplines. Judo leads with 12 posts, boxing has 9, and taekwondo has 7. Badminton, gymnastics, ice hockey and volleyball get 6 each, while sports like equestrian, powerlifting and rowing have just one seat apiece. A few disciplines, like basketball, football and hockey, only have posts for men this round, while archery and pencak silat lean more toward women. ITBP has called these numbers tentative, so they could shift a little before the process wraps up.
Who Can Apply
This is open to Indian citizens, both men and women, and also to subjects of Nepal and Bhutan, which is a nice inclusion you don't see everywhere. What's firmly ruled out is ex-servicemen and physically challenged candidates. Beyond that, the notice stays fairly light on detail. You'll need to meet the educational qualification and carry a certificate proving you're a meritorious sportsperson, issued by the right sports authority. The exact qualification and which achievements count aren't listed here, so read the full advertisement carefully once it's out rather than assuming your medals will qualify automatically.
Age Limit
You need to be between 18 and 23 years old. Meritorious sportspersons get up to 5 years of relaxation, and if you're SC or ST on top of that, it goes up to 10 years. The notice doesn't say what date age is calculated from, so keep an eye on the detailed advertisement for that.
Fee
Simple enough here. Men from UR, OBC and EWS pay ₹100, which is a modest fee compared to most other recruitment forms out there. Women, SC/ST candidates and ex-servicemen pay nothing at all. Salary
Selected candidates get Pay Level-3, ranging from ₹21,700 to ₹69,100, which is a solid starting point for a Group C post and compares well with similar constable-level roles in other forces. Allowances aren't detailed in the notice, but you can expect the usual set that comes with central armed police force postings, on top of the basic pay, once you're in service.
Selection Process
