About the Organization
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is a Government of India undertaking. It is the oil company in the country. The Bongaigaon Refinery in Assam is one of its units. Training at the Bongaigaon Refinery gives you a view of how a refinery operates.
What Is the Job Role and Daily Responsibilities?
You will join as an apprentice under the Apprentices Act. There are three options:
Code 101: Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant), 12 months, 36 posts
Code 103: Boiler (Mechanical), 24 months, 14 posts
Code 107: Technician Apprentice (Instrumentation), 12 months, 8 posts
What will you do every day?
Learn plant operations from senior staff
Follow safety rules at all times
Assist with routine checks and equipment handling
Note down what you learn during training

Eligibility for this job
Qualification: A 3-year B.Sc in Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry is required for Codes 101 and 103. A 3-year Diploma in Instrumentation is required for Code 107.
Marks: A minimum of 50% is needed. However SC/ST/PwBD candidates on seats need at least 45%.
Age: The candidate must be between 18 and 24 years old as of 30.09.2026. There is some relaxation for categories.
Result: The result must be declared before 30.09.2026.
Course type: Only regular full-time courses are allowed. Distance or part-time courses are not acceptable.
Not eligible: People who have a BE or B.Tech an MBA, a CA an LLB or an MCA are not eligible. Also anyone with one year or more of job experience is not eligible.
Rule: If there is more, than five years since the candidate completed their qualification they cannot apply.
One code only: B.Sc candidates can choose either Code 101 or Code 103.
Educational Qualification
Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant) – B.Sc. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry – 3 years
Trade Apprentice (Boiler) 3 years B.Sc in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry.
Technician Apprentice (Instrumentation): Diploma of 3 years in Instrumentation Engineering/ Instrumentation & Electronics/ Instrumentation & Control Engineering/ Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.
