About the Organization

The School of International Studies & Diaspora of Gujarat University has two specialized research units, the Centre for International Relations and the Diaspora & Migration Research Centre. Recruitment is for assistant professor posts in these two centers based at the Navrangpura campus of the university in Ahmedabad.

What Is the Job Role?

Successful candidates will be appointed as assistant professors and will be required to teach and undertake research in their respective centers, i.e., the Center for International Relations or the Diaspora & Migration Research Center. The role is a contractual academic position, involving classroom teaching and contributing to the center's research focus for the duration of the contract.

Who Should Apply?

Post 1: Assistant Professor – International Relations (1 post)

  • Master's degree in International Relations or English with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university

  • Must have a qualified NET (conducted by UGC or CSIR) or an equivalent UGC-recognized examination such as SLET/SET or have a Ph.D.

  • Note: NET/SLET/SET is not required for M.Sc. programs in disciplines for which these tests are not conducted by UGC/CSIR or similar such agencies. In such cases, a Ph.D. is essential for applying.

Post 2: Assistant Professor – Diaspora and Migration Studies (1 post)

  • Master's degree with a minimum of 55% marks in Diaspora and Migration Studies or English (or equivalent grade point scale wherever applicable) in a relevant subject from an Indian university or equivalent degree from a recognized university

  • Must have a qualified NET (conducted by UGC or CSIR) or an equivalent UGC-recognized examination such as SLET/SET or have a Ph.D.

  • Note: NET/SLET/SET is not required for M.Sc. programs in disciplines for which these tests are not conducted by UGC/CSIR or similar such agencies. In such cases, a Ph.D. is essential for applying.

Only candidates found prima facie eligible will be called for an interview. The university also reserves the right to fill fewer or more positions than advertised.

Salary Breakdown

The monthly salary for both positions is Rs. 60,000. For ten months, the engagement is only temporary and contractual.
