Before you settle in, you’ll go through six months of orientation and on-the-job training. After that, you’ll sign an agreement to serve BEL for two years, and breaking it means paying Rs 2,00,000. The fee is paid online and isn’t refunded under any circumstances, so check your eligibility before you pay. There are just two stages. The computer-based test carries 85 marks and the interview carries 15. The test has 125 questions in 120 minutes, with 100 technical questions and 25 on general aptitude and reasoning. One-fourth of a mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Top performers are shortlisted for the interview in a 1:5 ratio. You need at least 35% marks in the General, OBC or EWS categories, or 30% in SC, ST or PwBD. The notice doesn’t give a topic-wise syllabus, so base your preparation on your own engineering curriculum. Once registration opens, go to the careers section of the BEL website and register with an email ID and mobile number you’ll keep active, since both are verified with OTPs. Then log in, fill in the form, pick five test centres and upload your photograph and signature. Nothing can be edited after you submit, so check every detail first. Pay the fee if it applies to you, and save a PDF of your application, because the print option disappears after the last date. Candidates with colour blindness aren’t considered suitable for these posts, so check this before you apply. Submit only one application, as BEL will count only the one with the higher sequence number if you send several. And please don’t post any hard copies of your documents, since only the online application is accepted.A Big Break for Fresh Engineers
